Commissions

Original watercolor pieces painted on archival acid-free paper with lightfast paints

Cost of commissioned piece = (sq in. or linear in. price) + (design fee) + (shipping)

To give you an idea of the time required, it takes 5-10 hours of research and sketching and 20 hours to paint one of my 7x10 plant life cycle paintings.

Smaller pieces (any dimensions up to 100 sq in. - common sizes listed below)

Design Fee

No design fee if you provide a reference photo for me to paint from exactly or with minor changes.

$25 design fee if I am piecing together multiple photos or searching for my own reference photos.

Any reference photos you provide must either have a license that allows commercial use or you must have obtained written permission from the photographer for me to use it. I often use iNaturalist (filter for “cc-by” “cc-by-sa” or “cc0”), Wikimedia Commons (all images allow commercial use) and Flickr (select “commercial use” filter when searching).

Shipping

I will add on the actual cost of shipping.

If you’re in Chicagoland, we can arrange to meet up. No shipping charge.

Payment

Half of the payment is due up front and the other half + shipping is due when the artwork is complete. The artwork will be delivered once full payment is received. All payments are final.

I accept Venmo (@sedgeshaveedgesart under “Businesses”) and Paypal (sedgeshaveedges.art@gmail.com).

Other Information

I retain the rights to my commissioned artworks.
I retain the rights to sell prints of commissioned artworks.
I reserve the right to post photos or videos of the artwork and creation process on my website and social media.
You must credit me when sharing the commissioned works.
Changes to the composition cannot be made after painting has begun. I will send a final sketch for your review before painting.
